Description Of Service

This is a voucher issued electronically by the DBJ's Approved Financial Institutions and redeemed by Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) at Business Development Organisations (BDOs), to receive capacity development services with the aim of improving the SMEs ability to access credit.  Vouchers can be used for financial management, mentoring and coaching, business process improvement, and to prepare business plans, financial statements, strategic plans and marketing plans.

Qualification Criteria

Requirements:

• Any small or medium sized business entity organized for profit
• Must have a place of business located in Jamaica
• Must operate primarily within Jamaica or makes a significant contribution to the Jamaican economy through payment of taxes or use of Jamaican products, materials or labour
• Must operate in the productive sectors and should at least be registered as a sole trader.

Apart from the general criteria related to collateral and the feasibility of the business, among other issues, the client must meet all other requirements of the individual AFI to be issued a voucher.

Additional Information

The DBJ will pay 70% of the cost or the value of the voucher, whichever is less. SMEs will pay no less than 30% of the cost of the service. If the entrepreneur so desires, he/she may prepare plans which cost more than the voucher amount and make their own arrangements for payment.
