Description

From the island of fierce pirates, ancient Arawaks and Carib tribes comes the popular range of Aunt May’s Food Products. Against a background of mixed and rich cultures, forged by the hot tropical sun and cool island breezes, the secrets of preparing tasty homemade dishes has been well guarded and handed down from generation to generation.

Aunt May’s Food Products is a Barbadian Brand and was established in 1985 in the kitchen of the owner and founder, Mrs. Leila C. Johnson as a means of earning extra cash for the maintenance of herself and her three children.

After a day’s work in the garment factory where Mrs. Johnson worked she would then journey into the country side to seek farmers to gather carefully chosen fresh Bajan herbs, onions, ripe island peppers and a mixture of selected spices. These fresh herbs along with the other ingredients and spices would then be taken home to be prepared with the help of her three children.

After the children had gone off to bed, Mrs. Johnson would then spend hours at night in the kitchen and well into the morning blending the ingredients together to produce thick, hot, zesty Pepper Sauces and the spicy, delicious Seasonings we all enjoy today in our kitchens.

As time passed Aunt May’s has added other homemade quality products to the family. Invigorating Syrups, delicious Jellies, traditional premixed Great Cake.

Throughout the years the growing demand for Aunt May’s Food Products had increased, the business then outgrew her kitchen and is now situated at Building #8 Newton Industrial Park, Newton Christ Church.

Today the Aunt May’s Brand can be found throughout the island of Barbados in small shops, mini marts and the bigger supermarkets. The Brand is also distributed in the USA mostly in all parts of Brooklyn and other parts of New York as well as in England, Canada and in the Caribbean such as St. Vincent.

Whenever you wish to add the captivating Caribbean taste to your cocktail dips, soups, meats or fish, Aunt May’s homemade products enhances the flavor of every dish.
